This tool converts opaque sRGB colors. Alpha channels and other color spaces are not supported.
When to use this tool
Translate a HEX color from a design file into RGB or HSL notation for your CSS. Enter the digits with or without a leading #. The formats describe the same opaque sRGB color; changing the notation does not improve contrast or alter the color. HSL values are rounded to whole numbers in this tool.

- The expanded HEX value is #FF0000, RGB is rgb(255, 0, 0), and HSL is hsl(0, 100%, 50%).
Get a better result
- Use six-digit HEX or RGB when preserving the exact channel values matters. Rounded HSL can convert back to slightly different values.
- Check text contrast separately. The color preview is not an accessibility contrast test.
Common questions
Does this accept eight-digit HEX with transparency?
No. This version supports only three- and six-digit opaque HEX values. Alpha channels are not included.
Can I enter a named color such as red?
Use a HEX value instead. For red, enter #f00 or #ff0000.
